Dr Stella Bvuma born and bred in Limpopo province, currently appointed as Head of Department at the University of Johannesburg, Department of Applied Information Systems. Once a student in the same department where she is appointed as HoD today, she is a courageous, bold yet a leader with a servant heart and agility. She has a driven robust passion in the area of ICT4development and ICT adoption technologies. Dr Bvuma’ s research focuses on ICT adoption technologies by SMMEs towards growth and development, she also holds personal interest of advocating inclusivity for women in the Information technology sector. She also serves in various boards and is also a member of professional bodies in the area of information technology.

In April, 2019 she was honored as the best academic leader in Applied Information Systems studies. the South Africa education leadership awards are presented by Asian confederation of businesses with CMO Asia as its strategic partner and stars of the industry group as a research partner. endorsed by the world federation of academic & educational institutions.
in the same year 2019, she was awarded best academic advisor award presented by the International Business and Excellence (IBAE) awards 2019 in Dubai, UAE, under the GISR foundation.
